Nigeria LNG Announces Expansion Intentions

Today, Nigeria LNG Limited announced its intention to proceed with the development of a proposal to install a third train at their Bonny Island site in Rivers State, Nigeria.

The contract for front end engineering has been awarded to the TSKJ Consortium (Technip, Snamprogetti, MW Kellog and JGC Corporation) who are presently engaged in the construction of the first two LNG trains due to commence operations in October, 1999.

Shell Gas Nigeria BV will again act as Technical Adviser to the Project from the Shell Office in The Hague.

The proposal comprises a third train and associated facilities similar in size and design to the two trains under construction and, if approved, will increase the annual LNG production capacity of the Bonny site from 5.9 million tonnes to 8.7 million tonnes.
