NLNG Plant Shut Down

The situation on the plant and the residential areas of NLNG facilities remains calm even though the staff of the Company are maintaining a high level of vigilance.

Our engineers are carrying out repair works on damaged off-site equipment in order to re-start the plant as soon as possible. The extent of damage done so far will be known after this exercise.

Meanwhile, the President and Commander-in-Chief, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is scheduled to visit Bonny Island today, Sunday 26th September, 1999, to see for himself the extent of the damage to NLNG facilities as a result of last week's demonstrations by youth on the Island.
