The Base Projects started with seven (7) ships with cargo capacity (100%) of between 121,952 132, 588 cubic metres, used for transporting LNG from Bonny Island to buyers in Europe. Six of the vessels are owned by NLNG through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Bonny Gas Transport Limited (BGT). The seventh, LNG DELTA, is chartered from Shell Bermuda Overseas Limited, new 11 ships were built for the expansion trains3, 4 & 5bringing the number of ships in the fleet to 18 ships.
Technical management of the 13 BGT ships provided by two fleet managers: STASCO 9 ships AESM 4 ships. .
The remaining ships are owned by independent ship owners as follows: Bergensen Worldwide Gas 4 ships SBOL 1 ship
Six more ships were ordered to meet Train 6 requirement, bringing the total to 24 ships for 6 train operation. All 24 ships are utilized on integrated basis for ex-ship delivers to NLNG buyers in EU and US.
Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO) has served the marine industry for upwards of a century. It has experienced hands and marine experts all over the globe, who advise on a wide range of ship and port projects.
STASCO manages more than 40 vessels, from 10,000 deadweight product carriers up to 300,000 deadweight very large crude carriers.
In the last decade, STASCO has completed 450,000 million tones-sea miles of Liquefied Natural Gas transportation. Its Shipping Division provides consultancy advice in over 40 countries.
The Anglo-Eastern Group AESM
The Anglo-Eastern Group looks after a varied fleet and crew base trading and operating worldwide. It has well over 7,500 crewmen and over 500 seasoned shore-based workers all over the world. Anglo-Eastern Group offers the complete spectrum of ship and crew management and technical services, which include technical support, superintendence, procurement, accounting, insurance and agency services.
Anglo-Eastern has won several laurels for its technical expertise in ship management. It has had a rapid growth, culminating in the establishment of several technical centres worldwide to attend to the needs of its clients. The group is admired for its standards and long-standing employee records.
A merger with the famous UK Ship-manager, Denholm, has given Anglo-Eastern a firm footing in Europe. The group now operates LNG, heavy lift and offshore vessels from the UK Office.
The continuous improvement of the HSE and operational performance of each ship in the fleet is of great importance to BGT and NLNG, and is subject to continual review.
BGT Shipping Safety Record
Each ship in the NLNG fleet is continuously monitored and benchmarked against LNG industry standards. This is done through:
Shipboard Audit Programme and Safety Management Systems
Continuous implementation and improvement of HSE procedures.
Incident and accident reporting/analysis are done and recommendations are shared with other vessels.
The above is on going and results will continue to be monitored and evaluated.
